INTRODUCTION PROGRAM TO PLAY THERAPY

Play Therapy is a predominantly non-directional therapeutic approach that uses play and the creative arts as a tool. For children ages 4 to 12, the only effective treatment is through play and creative arts, as play is a natural means of expression for children.
In Play Therapy, in the presence of an appropriately trained adult, the child receives help, is relieved, and resolves emotional conflicts and behavioral problems in an atmosphere of safety and trust.

Play Therapy is also used successfully with adolescents, adults and families.

In the 3-hour presentation to the 8-hour Experiential Introductory Program “Introduction to Play Therapy – The Power of Play” we will mainly introduce the non-directive play techniques based on the humanitarian person-centered model of Carl Rogers and the work of Virginia Axline and Violet Oaklander. We will briefly introduce some of the tools we use in our approach, taught by Play Therapy Greece and certified internationally by Play Therapy International (PTI). Participants will have the opportunity to experience Play Therapy for themselves, in a symbolic way, through the sand play, music, movement, painting, etc.

Professional prospects and conditions for someone who wants to train in this approach to work therapeutically with children will also be discussed.
